Lt. Madison had infiltrated the offices of Wolfram and Hart with little trouble. It seemed that anyone with half a brain could do it. She felt that was odd but payed it no mind. She had worked her way into the mail room, eliminating the guy who delivered the mail to the higher ups, and took his place. How better to get all the inside information and stay under the radar than by being the mail man, or in her case, mail woman.
Leaving the elevator on one of the upper levels, she entered the boss man's office, Angel, with her head down. Not making eye contact with anyone and taking her time, as it seemed a fairly involved discussion was going on between Angel, Spike, Gunn, and this world's Faith, who the very site of made Madison sick to her stomach. How this world's Faith could be so goody goody was beyond her.
"So you were naked and the preacher was huggin on you?" Gunn asked in amusement at Faith's story.
"Yeah, and the cops came. We both went to the pokey." she laughed. "Really great time, afterwards anyway." Faith turned around and looked at the girl who had just come in. "Hey hold up. I got something." Faith trotted to the desk, picking up a small package addressed to Cleveland and handed it to the girl who had just come in. "Here." she offered with a gentle smile on her lips.
Spike seemed much more involved with picking on Angel again, and Gunn seemed interested in watching them fight then to pick up on the interaction of the two women, and good thing. It was damned odd to say the least.
"Yes my emp...I mean, yes ma'am. I'll make sure this gets where its going. I have a few letters and documents here for Mr. Angel, if you wouldn't mind handing them to him." Madison said, still not making eye contact as she took a handful of letters out and handed them to Faith. "If there's nothing else, I'll be on my way. Lots of work to do and all." Madison said as she turned her cart around and started to head out, taking not of the constant bickering between Angel and Spike, and just how different this Faith truly was.
"Sure." Faith said, and should have let it go, but for some reason, with the loss of Fred, she seemed more empathetic to the people. This girl just reeked of confusion. "Hey, wait a minute." Faith called, following the girl outside the room. She gently put a hand on her shoulder. "Are you okay?"
Madison froze for a second, thinking she had been caught, then realizing otherwise. She wretched her shoulder away and kept moving ahead slowly. "I'm fine miss. Just have a lot of work to do it all. Don't concern yourself with the worker bees. Good day." Madison said, giving the best false smile and happy tone she could. All this good crap was making her sick and seeing her empress like this...it just didn't sit well with her in the least.
"Screw you too." Faith grumbled. She was just trying to be nice. She turned and went back in the main office. "I don't trust the new mail girl." she announced a she walked in.
"Um, Faith, " Angel said, using the announcement as hopefully away out of the torture that was Spike, "Have you ever really trusted anybody?"
"You sunshine." she replied. "and the rest of Angel Investigations." she used the name deliberately, because she was not exactly a fan of the group being in the belly of the beast.
Angel jumped up from his desk and walked over to Faith, dong his best ignore Spike dance. "I meant people in general Faith. You still suspect everyone of something, don't you? That's not the way to live. You'll never be happy that way." Angel said, putting his hand on Faith's shoulder.
"Yeah, you trusted Mr. Principal and gave him a good roll in the sack within days of meeting the guy after the First got you all shaken up. Look how ell that turned out." Spike remarked sarcastically, knowing Wood was a sore spot for Faith.
"You bleached out little freak. You're just pissed because B wouldn't have anything to do with you outside of work. Yeah, all those wondrous confessions of love and devotion, and got left with as a smoldering pile of ash. Yeah, she really felt something for you Billy boy." Faith fired back, shooting at Spike's sore spot. "Now all you got is endless days of playing Pinky and the Brain with Angel here." the last crack really got Gunn laughing good.
"Yeah, well...least I don't jump into bed with someone just cause they're there and I'm all weak feeling cause I gotta lead people and don't know how. Using sex just to feel something, never see me doing that." Spike shot back, the irony of his words seemingly lost on him.
"Uh.." Faith furled her eyebrows. "Yes you do. That's how the whole thing with B started genius. She told me, you were her 'gotta feel' ticket. She was yours too. Nancy boy." she tossed in his words for good measure. "Anyway, its your fault she got there anyway. If you weren't such a failure then that little old man wouldn't have tossed you off that scaffold and B wouldn't have had to sacrifice herself. But, that's what you've always been about isn't it? Failing at the big moments?"
As much as Angel was enjoying seeing Spike lose this argument badly, he knew he had to stop it or these two would get really physical, really fast. "Okay, okay. Calm down you two. Got more important things to deal with...Namely Illyria. Any ideas?" Angel asked.
Wesley entered, carrying a book on the subject of Illyria. "We have nothing. Apparently that is the reason why the Senior Partners locked the door to her temple. Even they themselves could not get it. Even after all these eons."
"Then that means that we have to play the waiting game? Just sit and see when she comes out and for what. That's sayin she even decides she wants to come out?" Gunn looked at Faith. "You were there and saw everything, you think she's gonna leave the place or is she gonna stew?"
Faith crossed her arms and took a deep sigh. "Its hard to say. She looked broken, like she had nothing left and believe me, I know that feeling. You don't wanna do anything, but sooner or later I can guarantee we'll here from her. I just have no idea when."
"If its one thing I hate, its an overtly powerful, ex-god who has nothing to keep her occupied. Wild card like that, no telling what she'll hit us with when she does get out of her little stupor." Spike remarked. Knowing first hand that she could pack one hell of a punch.
Faith nodded her head. "He knows. He failed to stop one a couple of years ago." she smarted.
Wesley interceded. "The only thing I could even discern from her behavior is that she seemed fascinated by Faith's existence. Though. I must say personally, I hope she just rots there and never comes back. Not now, and not ever." Wesley words were filled with bitterness, and no one dared argue with that, most of them agreed anyway.
"Great, just what I need. Something old, evil, and capable of killing us all ten times over is fascinated by me. Thanks, Wes, there's something that won't keep me awake at night." Faith replied sarcastically as she got up from her seat and leaned against the office wall, utterly perturbed at this point. elizfaith568: "Well, if little miss I'm going to keep taking shots at Spike, is in a mood, I'm out. Taunting isn't as much fun when they taunt back." Spike said giving Faith a irritated smile as he left the room.
"You have a nice day!" Faith smiled broadly. "See that? I won! I beat Billy the bloody at his little game. I deserve a nick name now too." She was about to say more when the lights began dimming.
Gunn came to his feet instantly. "What the hell is this about?" he immediately went to a closet that Angel had filled with weapons.
"These aren't normal power surges." Wesley looked out the door he could see what seemed to be purple squares appearing in thin air, and soon after came screams from outside.
"Lets move." Angel commanded, taking the lead into lobby where they found several dead lawyers on the ground and a group of men dressed in full black military gear, at least twelve guys, panned out around the room. Most were armed with assault rifles and knives.
Spike, having rejoined, chimed in. "Oh great, didn't we already do the ninja invasion thing?" he said sarcastically as he lunged at one of the men. The group panned out and faced off with the men.
"Careful guys, I'm pretty sure their human but that doesn't mean let them kill you. Just try not to kill them." Angel command as the fighting began.
The leader let rip a full clip at the group, sending them to the floor. A sharp scream caught Angel's attention as he could see Faith had taken one low, in the stomach. He didn't have much time to register the information as the group of black clad paramilitants began making their way up towards them.
"We have got to get out of here.' Spike said, snatching the downed Slayer and dragging her into the office they had just vacated."
Faith gritted her teeth to help endure the pain as she and Spike stayed down inside Angel's office. "And go where? We can't let them kill everyone here, evil or not, that's just wrong. We gotta stop them. Now let me up and at them. Angel needs my help.' Faith said as she shoved Spike to the side and slowly crawled over to the door peering out. She saw Angel had downed two of them put was pinned down himself behind Harmony's desk, along with Gunn. Wes had taken cover in another office, and was firing back with his trusty pistols but the soldiers either had cover or were dodging his shots.
"Pet. Those are bullets. Those kill Slayers like you. As much as it hurts my mouth to say it, you not being around would not be something I'd like to entertain around these parts so stay down and. ..." Spike stopped as he saw the soldiers disappear behind a rippling effect in the air, square in the middle of the room. "Oh Bugger" Spike muttered.
Angel could see the effect happening as well, and figure something bad had just gotten worse. "Oh Hell." He ducked behind the desk, desperately searching for a weapon, anything to fight back with. The est he found was a brush full of long blonde hair.
The ripples increased in intensity and with a flash, the limp bodies of the soldiers came flying out, heating the wall with a thud. As the disturbance disappeared, Illyria was left standing in the center of the room, holding the attack groups leader in the air by the throat. "This Vampire Slayer is mine. Tell Olvilcan to stay away if he values his miserable existence. I can smell him all over you. Now return to the place you came." Illyria said, her voice as dead as ever, as small portals open end next to each body and sucked them in, Illyria tossing the commander, still alive, into the last one.
Faith, having hearing and seeing it all, said to herself. "Just what I need, now I owe my life to this thing. can things get any more confusing?" she spat as Spike picked her up and out into the room while everyone else came from their hiding spots, forming a large circle around Illyria in the process. No one know what to do, say, or even think at this development.
Illyria looked toward the room that Faith had been lead into, then looked at Angel. "The Vampire Slayer is injured. I smell death near her. I..." she paused, searching for the words "It is of importance to me that I save her." she tilted her head to one side, surveying the vampire and his companions.
"Right. Save her. Because you are such a life saving entity." Wesley spat in disgust. "Or haven't you done enough damage in one life time?"
Illyria took two steps toward Wesley and snarled, "You would presume to speak to me in such a manner?"
Angel could see this ending badly and interjected, "Illyria, no, he's just still upset and grieving over the women you killed to get back here. She was very important to all of us. Don't worry, we won't let the Vampire Slayer die, "Angel said, looking up at Faith, braced on Spike's shoulder, "she's very important to us too."
"Agreed." she turned from Wesley and Angel and began her walk up the stairs toward the office.
Meanwhile, in the office, Spike had his coat behind Faith's head, and his hand covering her wound. It hadn't seemed that serious when it happened, but the 7.62 round from the AK 47 was never meant to injure. It had been built to kill, and that is what it was doing now to Faith. Sweat beaded up on her forehead as she felt herself grow cooler and weaker by the moment.
"Okay you mouthy little pain my ass. Time for you to show me how bad you are and stay around here for a while huh?" Spike parted with the words, unsure of what to say to the girl, bleeding out on the table before him. He saw her eyes roll back slightly, and he shook her. "Hey! I said stay with me you git."
Faith, barely conscious and vision blurred looked up and Spike to say, "Sorry about being such a bitch earlier. It's just who I am...I..." Faith passed out, the pain and blood loss over taking her body.
Illyria walked into the room and stood over Faith, Angel and company not far behind. "Heal her half-breed. Use you science and your medicine. Make her better now, I command it."
"It doesn't work that way." Spike groused. "You, do it. You fix this almighty God King. Bloody prove your powers already you.." he stopped talking as she waved her arm and slowed time to a near stoppage. She turned her head to Angel. "I can hold her like this, if you have the means to save her. I do, but there is a much heavier price to that option."
Angel didn't like the sound of that in the least. He knew that if Illyria could keep Faith frozen, then his med teams could save here. "No, there's no need for that. We can save her." Angel ran over to his desk and hit a blue button on his phone. "There, our best doctors should be here in moments. They'll save her." Angel said, heavy emotion in his voice.
"Very well." she said, waving her other arm and moving slightly to the side as a disoriented Spike fell to the ground. She immediately announced. "Do not disturb me half breed, the manipulation of space time in such a narrow and varying field takes much concentration." she turned to Angel. "I must maintain the hold on her injuries while not holding your doctors as they work on them. Do you understand?" she said moving her fingers slightly, causing a stapler next to Faith's head to fall off the table.
"I understand, but how can you do that? If they get anywhere near the field, they'll be frozen too, right?" Angel asked, hating to question in such a situation but wanting to be sure he had it right. Faith's life depended on it.
"Yes. It requires a much more detailed use of my powers." she paused and walked next to the frozen Slayer. "Her value to me is incalculable, " she paused. "and to you as well." She gently put her hands into the tie field she and manipulated to just about form fit Faith's body. "I will need to be incomprehensibly close to do what is necessary, with your permission." she said, showing how much she wanted the Slayer alive by asking his permission for what she wanted to do.
"Whatever you need to do to keep her alive, do it. Permission granted. Just please...we can't lose another...especially not her." Angel said, how much he really cared about Faith becoming blatantly evident to all those present.
A noise from behind caused Angel, Wes, and Gunn to turn and see three doctors and five nurses coming in, all caring various, state of the art, medical equipment and medications. "Just one moment guys and be ready. Time is short." Angel said, motioning at them with his arm as he did not want to take his eyes off of Faith and Illyria.
"Catch the shell." She whispered as a mist seemed to come form her and enter Faith's body. As it did two things happened, Faith body began to show the blue markings that had once covered Fred's body, the second was that Fred's body now looked like it had in the medical ward, except it was upright and about to fall over.
Gunn grabbed the form that was once Fred, keeping it upright and in the position it was in. "What the hell was that? he exclaimed, caught completely off guard.
"I have an idea but I don't really like it. I think she just switched bodies" Angel said, hoping he was wrong but knowing he probably wasn't. If she stayed too long, he knew Faith would end up just like Fred, a dead shell.
Faith's eyes shot open, but it was still Faith's voice, but her eye whites were tinged blue "Guys?"
They drew around her immediately. Each giving questions to her well being. "I'm okay. I feel her inside, she's stopped the pain, and the bleeding. She says to bring your doctors quickly half breed."
"Sounds like her, and her." Spike shook his head. "Exactly why is she in there again?"
"Spike, shut up. Doctors, over here now. Get to work fast. Not a lot of time." Angel command, his voice full of authority as he looked down at Faith. "Don't worry, your gonna be ok Faith."
Faith looked up at Angel and smiled. "Always bailing me out of trouble, aren't ya? Like the big brother I never had."
"Told you I would never give up on you Faith. Not now. Not ever." he reached down and held her hand, staying clear of the surgical staff.
"You can't keep scaring us like this pet. We'll do just fine without demonstrations of how tough you are." Spike added, unsure of how to go about dealing with the corpse Gunn was holding. "You can put her down Charles. I don't think she'll feel any discomfort from it."
Gunn laid the body down onto the ground with utter care, memories of Fred and his involvement going through his head, making his heart heavy.
"You guys know me, always trying to hard, no matter what I'm doing. Guess I'll never learn, haha." Faith laughed low, grunted in pain afterward.
Angel nudged the head doctor. "How's she doing?" he asked.
"This is remarkable. With her body in this state, it's amazingly simple to repair the damage, despite how bad it is. Should have her patched up and ready to go in no more than an hour." he said, voice warm and full of confidence. Angel smiled and relaxed at the good news and motioned to Spike, Gunn, and Wes. "Why don't you guy go take a break? Check to see how much damage those guys did. I'll stay here and call you the moment the surgery's done."
Nodding in agreement, Spike, Gunn, and Wesley left the room, Wesley taking a moment to look at Fred, the look on her face peaceful as always. Feeling the grief and rage rise again, he left. He'd rather lose himself in his work than lose himself in another rage fueled stupor.
The operation was going as planned. Supplies and personnel were coming on time and nothing seemed to be having any adverse effects and any troops or materials. It was as things were going this way, and the Empress was in such a wonderful mood that the high witch Amy along with the head of the Insurgency, Colonel Miller, expressed a plan to insert a quick strike team on Lt Madison;s suggestion to take out the head of W&H. She had absent mindedly okayed it, as she waited for the leader and exulted ruler, and her over all favorite person in the whole wide universe to come and join them.
As she waited, sitting next to Amy and Colonel Miller she felt something odd for a moment, as if someone had just walked over her grave, but dismissed it. She amused herself by watching the soldiers and medics move about, setting up the base of operations where they would be staying for a while. She was eaten up by certain evils, but the need to stay in low profile shelters until the time was right did not go past her.
"Have we heard anything yet from the strike team?" Miler asked, chomping on a huge cigar. Always a habit, he'd been doing it every time he ever got a chance.
Jackson, the communications commander, turned away from his board and removed his headphones, toothpick in his mouth as always. "Nothing yet sir. We confirmed their arrival but no word since." He said, his thick Russian accent making it hard for most to understand him.
Amy sensed something in the teleportation ring she had setup for the comings and goings of field agents. "Incoming." she announced as a swirling lack mist appeared in a flash and disappeared just as suddenly. Standing in the circle was Cain, with a dark-haired young woman in toe.
"Cain, what did you find and who the hell is that?" Faith remarked.
"I found a small group of Renegade Slayers in Georgia. Highly disorganized and not very well-trained in my opinion. The rest got away but this is their leader. This slayer and her group are not in my memory banks from any other world we've been to so I thought it best to bring her back her for my empress to decide what to do with." Cain said as he tossed Raven, landing with a thud at the foot of the steps leading up to Faith's throne.
Raven said nothing, simply staying on the floor. Play along for a while, don't rock the boat. Big mouth over there was handing out droves of information and she was gonna use it. *Alternaties. Heard of those, like when Spock had a goatee. Alright, and I don't exist in any others? Why? What happens to me in all those others that no one would remember me?* she pushed the thoughts out of her head as she looked up and registered shock. "Oh my God.."
"Damn it Cain. I told you not to just go running around out there." Miller got up and looked at the shell shocked girl closer. "I don't recognize her at all. Anywhen." he said looking back at the empress. "Maybe some kind of Anomaly?"
"Maybe." Faith said as she looked down at Raven and gave an evil grin. "I'm getting the vibes though that she's a little firecracker, just like me. Not bad looking either. I'd definitely remember a girl like this if we had seen her before." Faith laughed, finding this girl interesting but inwardly, the fact that she was an unknown troubled her greatly.
"I discovered that they were a minor threat. They wouldn't join us and I knew I could handle them alone. Doesn't matter if they got away...as disorganized as they were with a leader, without they'll just stumble around. Nothing to be concerned with, sir." Cain said, confident in his course of action.
"That's not true." Raven replied quietly, making her voice tremble.
"What did you just say?" Colonel miller walked over there and snatched the girl by a handful of hair.
Raven played a card, but it was a joker card at best, thinking the forces of evil from another universe distrusted each other as much as most things evil. "We broke off from the Slayers, to live on our own. When that damned walking toaster oven came, we just asked some questions. That's all. He freaks out and pulls out two big assed guns out of his arms, what were we supposed to do? Trigger happy bastard is all he is."
Miller turned an eye to Cain, to see what he had to say about that comment, asking with just a look.
"I did pull my guns, true, but I never intended to hit any of them. Had I wanted to, I could of blown away their cover with a missile, and gunned down the lot of them. That is what I would consider trigger happy. They simply aggravated me and I gave these little girls a scare. Afterward, I doubt they'll have the stones to get in our way now. Falling for that pit trap was embarrassing of me, I have to say. That's all Colonel. I would have only killed if it was required at that point. You see I brought her back alive for you." Cain said, knowing what the little slayer was trying and doing his best to counter, but he knew Miller had a short fuse.
"If I was fighting so damned hard, where are the marks on me? I heal fast but not that fast." She was rewarded with Miller letting loose of her hair. "I just wanted to see if maybe I could work a deal for me and my girls that was better than Miss-holier-than-anyone-else Summers was giving us. Thirty Renegades with you isn't much, I know, but its something, plus we know the lay of the land." she turned and looked at the monstrosity. "You lie a lot don't you? Hit us if you wanted to my ass! You couldn't see most of us because you had already fallen in the hole while pulling the guns." Raven got an extremely sour look on her face. "Of course, if you want I can ace your ass in front of the Empress here and we can all have a laugh."
Anger was an emotion Cain seldom if ever felt, but this girl had just brought it out with a vengeance. "Why you little bitch!!" he exclaimed as he moved toward Raven.
"You bring it you punk!" Raven shouted back
"Stop right there, Cain. " Faith commanded. "I like this girl and I don't want her injured. She could prove useful after all. I think, even if she is lying, that I can bring her around to my way of think where you couldn't." Faith snapped sarcastically, giving Cain a glare.
"But your highness, I gave them every chance to come along quietly and join us. She refused. Gave no indication that she and her group would turn their backs on this world and come over to the dark side willingly and completely. Don't you see what she's doing here? Colonel Miller?" Cain said, being overcome with aggravation which he once thought was impossible for him.
Colonel Miler looked at him. "I go with what I see Commander. The girl has no marks on her, and you admit to pulling the guns. You tried to shoot first ask questions later and she out thought you, saved her troops." he shrugged. "Why don't you just go on and we'll have a talk later. Leave the girl with us."
Raven, meanwhile was giving Cain the ugliest, dirtiest look she could give him, making sure the threat was understood. She hadn't lied just adjusted the facts to fit a different interpretation. She also made sure to get as much of a look around as possible without looking like she was looking around.
Cain, completely disgusted, turned to leave, giving Raven on last hate-filled look. "Just you wait, little girl." he said and left without another word.
"Better run a check up on Cain. Don't want his overzealousness causing us trouble down the road." Faith said to Miller before walking down to Raven and helping her feet. "I like you kid. I really do. I'm going to teach you a thing or two. Follow my lead and you and your girls just my have a place here in my army. You'll come to enjoy the darkness and hate and everything else that comes with it. If not, well, I'll just say that I won't kill you, but you'll wish I would. So, ready to learn my way, cutie?" Faith said, her hands on Raven's shoulder's, looking her straight in her odd eyes.
"Yes Ma'am." Raven said with a wide smile. *I am so in it this time* she thought as the tall silent woman in black next to Faith made an announcement.
"Incoming!" she said, then watched as various parts and fluid came spraying all over the place where the 'incoming' was supposed to go. That and one live body, badly beaten and barely moving.
"Ma'am. Your, uh.. body parts are here." Raven said respectfully.
"What the fuck is this?" Faith said angrily as she walked down to the mess, her black robe flowing behind her. Raven followed closely behind, along with Amy and Miller.
The one remaining soldier, got to his knees, then bowed low before Faith. "My empress, we did as commanded. We had them all pinned, even injured your double in this world, but then...ugh...we were ambushed by...something...it felt like our lord but....older and stronger. It was female and new his true name." he finished, keeping his head bowed low.
Raven felt eye on her and looked up, shaking her head and shrugging. She really had no clue what the hell this guy was talking about.
Colonel Miller waded through the mess and grabbed the soldier by the collar, smacking him once to snap him out of what seemed to be hysteria. "A description would be nice, or a name, something a little more than the vagueness of life Sergeant."
"Well, she worse a black leather suit and had blue hair and eyes. Her skin seemed hardened too but I'm sorry sir, I don't remember any name. I just know she seemed to appear out of thin air. Some sort of control of interdimensinal portals or something." he coughed, splattering blood on Colonel Miller's jacket.
"Well, your certainly useful, aren't you?" Faith said, pulling out her jackal dagger given to her by her lord and father. "Anything else useful or should I slit your throat now?" she asked, licking the blade as Raven looked on.
Raven took the initiative and cautiously stepped toward the trooper, kneeling down in the muck and entrails with him. Her smile was warm and soft, her odd eyes coming to meet the troopers. Her voice was mild and carried with it a laguidity. "Sergeant. Look what's happened now. The Empress is really angry. I know your really freakin' out by all this but you have to remember something more. Now work with me sweets, did you overhear anything, see anything, did it talk to you? Just calm down and think."
Looking into Raven's odd eyes, an odd calmness overcame the trooper and he stopped trembling. "All she said was, "Tell Olvican that the Vampire Slayer is mine. To stay away if he valued his existence." She said she could smell his scent on us. And I think I may remember hearing someone there shout out, Illrin...Lyrin...Illyria maybe. I'm not sure. Don't even know if they meant her." he said, still kneeling.
"Illyria ...Why does that name sound familiar?" Faith said, taking note of the way Raven had seemed to calm the trooper at a mere look. Useful indeed, she thought.
Raven stood up, that gentleness still there as he kneeled. The loud cracking noise and the disdain on her face as she walked from his now broken necked corpse had everyone staring. She grimaced at her pants, the nasty bodily fluid and pieces stuck there. "Wasted my pants on that failure. I sure hope there ain't a lot of those around." she looked at the Empress. "You were leading me somewhere before the rudeness?"
Raven recalled the Renegades code, and how no human helping evil wold escape its cost. Maybe Buffy hadn't figured that part out yet, but it was very simple. Raven believed that if you threw your lot in with that which was evil, then you were evil, and evil things got to die. Period.
Faith laughed out loud as she put her arm around Raven' neck and lead her back to her private chambers. "Man, I knew I liked this girl. We'll be in my chambers bonding. Call me when you find out some useful information on the Illyria or whatever the hell it was."
Amy watched with jealously as Faith closed the door behind them *Damn it, I'm supposed to be the prodigy, not this little bitch.* she thought. "Hey, someone get this mess cleaned up. Don't want our lord entering a new world to find suck a mess." she commanded to some nearby troopers.
"Great job of real magic there Chief." Jenny smarted as she went to attend the parts and single corpse, merrily. It never saddened her to see another dead Project soldier. She just wished it would be more and more often.

The doctors filed out of the office, Angel shaking each of their hands and thanking them as they left. Shutting the door, he walked back over to the table and held Faith's hand, giving her a warm smile. "See, all better. Told you I'd always take care of you. Now, if you could just tell Illyria to get out before she boils you alive..." Angel said when Faith's smile turned to a grimace of pain and she started convulsing all over the table. Angel grabbed her shoulders and held her down. "Faith, what's wrong? Faith!" he exclaimed.
