Conviction
EVIL INC. - Taking over the Los Angeles offices of the supernatural law firm Wolfram and Hart proves to be more
challenging than expected for Angel (David Boreanaz) and the gang, especially when their first case involves
representing an evil client (guest star Rod Rowland) who threatens to destroy the city. As the gang settles into their
new careers at the law firm, they meet new and familiar faces, including the mysterious Eve (guest star Sarah Thompson,
"Boston Public"), who will act as Angel's liaison to Wolfram and Hart's senior partners, and the bubbly vampire
Harmony (guest star Mercedes McNab) who is Angel's new assistant. Most surprising of all is the arrival of Angel's
old nemesis and fellow vampire-with-a-soul, Spike (James Marsters, "Buffy the Vampire Slayer"), who makes a
miraculous appearance. The episode was written & directed by Joss Whedon.
Just Rewards
Spike (James Marsters) mysteriously materializes in Angel's (David Boreanaz) office through the magic of an amulet,
but no one, including Spike himself, understands the reason he has returned... Meanwhile, Angel jeopardizes his own
life when he tries to stop one of his evil clients (guest star Victor Raider-Wexler) from using human bodies as vessels

HELL CRAVES THE WICKED - Spike (James Marsters) struggles to maintain his weak grip on reality as spectral forces
threaten to send him to hell. He encounters ghostly apparitions, including an eighteenth-century serial-killer doctor.
Meanwhile, Fred (Amy Acker) continues her quest to find a way of restoring Spike to his corporeal self. The episode was

The Cautionary Tale of Numero Cinco
MUCHA LUCHA – Angel (David Boreanaz) learns that he must track down a retired Mexican wrestler (guest star Danny Mora)
to help him defeat Tezcatcatl, an ancient Aztec warrior who emerges every 50 years to take the heart of a hero to
sustain his own existence. Angel is surprised to find the wrestler is employed at his company, Wolfram & Hart, and that
he has a personal score to settle with Tezcatcatl. Alexis Denisof, J. August Richards, Amy Acker and James Marsters
also star. Jeffrey Bell wrote and directed the episode.
Lineage
CYBERNETIC GENETICS – The offices of Wolfram & Hart are under attack by cyborg assassins who are seeking a magical
device that will give them control over Angel. Meanwhile, Wesley is surprised by the unannounced arrival of his
estranged father (guest star Roy Dotrice, Beauty and the Beast) who has come to evaluate Wesley for possible
reacceptance to the Watcher's Council.
Destiny
THE RETURN OF DRUSILLA - When another mysterious package arrives at Wolfram & Hart that recorporealizes Spike, the
gang learns that the existence of two living ensouled vampire heroes has created chaos in the world. After Eve
(Sarah Thompson) tells them about a prophecy that states that the only way to restore order is to find the Cup of
Perpetual Torment that bestows human life, Angel and Spike battle it out for the ultimate prize. A series of
flashbacks show the history of Angel and Spike and their relationship with Drusilla (guest star Juliet Landau).
Harm's Way
THE LOWER DECKS - Angel (David Boreanaz) arranges an important truce meeting between two warring demon tribes through
a Demon Rights Activist (guest star Bryce Mouer) whom both clans trust. Feeling already unappreciated at work,
Harmony's (Mercedes McNab, right) life in the office gets worse when she finds the Demon Rights Activist dead in her
bed one morning after a night of drinking. She must find out who's framing her for the murder before Angel kills her
for causing the summit negotiations to break down.
Soul Purpose
DAVID BOREANAZ MAKES HIS DIRECTORIAL DEBUT - A mysterious stranger (guest star Christian Kane) approaches Spike
(James Marsters) claiming responsibility for recorporealizing him in a mission to guide Spike in supplanting Angel
(David Boreanaz) as the new vampire champion. Meanwhile, Angel is racked by intense fever dreams and hallucinations of
his worst fears intensifying his worries that he will lose authority to Spike. Alexis Denisof, J. August Richards, Amy
Acker, Andy Hallett, Sarah Thompson and Mercedes McNab also star. David Boreanaz directed the episode written by Brent
Fletcher.

A NEW VAMPIRE SLAYER EMERGES - When an emotionally unstable woman, Dana (guest star Navi Rawat, "House of Sand and
Fog"), escapes from a psychiatric ward, Angel (David Boreanaz) learns that she was tortured as a child and is now
searching for her tormentor. Andrew (guest star Tom Lenk, "Buffy the Vampire Slayer"), a watcher-in-training, arrives
from Sunnydale with surprising information about Buffy and to inform the group that Dana is also a vampire slayer.
Meanwhile, Spike (James Marsters) believes that if he can save Dana, he will prove that he is destined to be the

ANGEL CELEBRATES THE 100TH EPISODE - Cordelia (Carpenter) mysteriously awakens from her coma and is shocked to discover
that instead of fighting against the evil law firm, Wolfram & Hart, Angel (Boreanaz) and the group are now running it.
Realizing that Angel has lost his conviction to be a hero, Cordelia gives him the information and support he needs to
get back on track. Meanwhile, while Angel has security keeping an eye on Eve (Sarah Thompson), her partner Lindsay
(guest star Christian Kane) prepares to bring about Angel's demise.
Why We Fight
VAMPIRES ABOARD A GERMAN U-BOAT - Lawson (guest star Eyal Podell, Behind Enemy Lines), a mysterious man from Angel's
past, arrives at Wolfram & Hart and takes the gang hostage. Through flashbacks to World War II, it is revealed that
Angel worked with the U.S. Navy to recover a captured German submarine with American sailors on board. The ship also
has a secret cargo, a dangerous trio of vampires, including Spike, who were kidnapped by the Germans and forced to
help the Nazis. When the sub comes under attack, Angel saves Lawson's life by turning him into a vampire. Now, sixty
years later, Lawson has arrived at Wolfram & Hart seeking revenge.
Smile Time
THE GREAT PUPPET CAPER -- When a popular children's show begins to steal the life forces of children by hypnotizing
them, Angel (David Boreanaz) goes directly to the studio to uncover the evil doings. Upon entering the building,
Angel triggers a spell that transforms him into a puppet. In a race against time, puppet-Angel and company must find
a way to reverse the spell, save the lives of hundreds of children and return Angel to his normal vampire state.
Meanwhile, Nina (guest star Jenny Mollen), the werewolf Angel befriended, returns to declare her romantic intentions,
but puppet-Angel is too embarrassed to reciprocate.
A Hole in the World
WRITTEN AND DIRECTED BY JOSS WHEDON -- When Fred (Amy Acker) opens up an ancient sarcophagus that was anonymously
sent to her, she is infected by a mysterious parasitic demon called Illyria. Angel (David Boreanaz) and Spike
(James Marsters) learn that Illyria is an ancient demon who existed before recorded time, and they must race to return
her to an ancient demon burial ground before she kills Fred and thousands of other innocent victims.

THE END OF FRED -- Angel (David Boreanaz) and Spike (James Marsters) return from England defeated, knowing that the
ancient demon Illyria has completely taken over Fred's (Amy Acker) body and soul. Upon learning that Knox (guest star

on revenge and Angel tries everything to restore Fred, including calling on an old friend from Sunnydale. Meanwhile,

memories from being restored. Meanwhile Wesley (Alexis Denisof) uncovers a mysterious deal struck by Wolfram & Hart

BACK TO THE FUTURE — When Illyria’s (Amy Acker) powers become unstable and cause her to erratically jump through time,
she learns that the gang intends to kill her. Upon returning to the present, Illyria plans to murder everyone before
they’re able to attack her. To save everyone’s lives, Angel (David Boreanaz) goes into the past with Illyria to alter
the course of events. David Boreanaz’s wife, Jaime Bergman guest stars. Alexis Denisof, J. August Richards,

The Girl in Question
DARLA, DRUSILLA AND ANDREW RETURN AS ANGEL AND SPIKE SEARCH FOR BUFFY - Angel (David Boreanaz) and Spike (James
Marsters) travel to Rome with plans to rescue Buffy (Sarah Michelle Gellar, who does not appear in the episode)
from their old nemesis The Immortal. While in Italy, they also attempt to retrieve the head of a fallen demon leader
to prevent a perilous power struggle between several warring demon clans. Julie Benz guest stars as Darla, Tom Lenk

Angel and company spend the day as if it were their last as they prepare to bring down the evil Circle of the Black

(Christian Kane), Gunn (J. August Richards) takes on an evil senator and Angel battles Hamilton (Adam Baldwin), the
